So... WHAT IS A GOOD BOOK?
Good books can take our children to other worlds, times, and experiences, all from the comfort of an armchair. But we all know that not all books are created equal; the best are beautifully written and leave children with a sense of hope. They are good for children's minds and good for their hearts too. New isn't always good - in my booklists you will find the best contemporary fiction for children, but also books for children that have stood the test of time and remain treasured favourites; classics to escape into again and again. All the books featured on RR booklists are chosen because they fall into one - or more - of the categories below. I've read every single one myself to bring you the very best fiction for kids that I can find!

About the
reading rebellion
The Reading Rebellion is the result of a life-long love of reading children’s literature, and, more recently, of a passion for pairing up children with books they will love, that will spark their imaginations and give them worlds to explore. As a mum of three children, now nearly all in their teens, and as a homeschooler for periods of their young lives, very little has given me more joy than putting books in their hands. I believe that reading can give children something very little else can in this fast paced world: it makes them slow down, get lost in another space, and experience something outside of themselves. It is good for their minds, and good for their hearts. I love finding books for kids that are beautifully written, and have beauty at the heart of them. Whether you are a parent trying to find a trusted recommendation for your child’s next read, a teacher wanting to pair up fabulous fiction with your curriculum topics, or a librarian seeking to stock your shelves with the very best in children’s literature, my hope is that here you will find what you are looking for.
