My Review

If you want to familiarise children with Shakespeare's best known stories, these books are a great place to start. They have none of the original language of the plays, but tell their plots in an easy and engaging format that will make Shakespeare feel easy and accessible for any child. It's such a great confidence boost for children to feel they have read all of Shakespeare's stories and found them easy and fun! When they've chosen a favourites and know the plots well, they will have a firm foundation to build on with more in depth knowledge of some of the speeches and key moments of the plays in the original language if they want to.

Publisher Review

The course of true love never did run smooth... A magical retelling of Hermia, Helen, Demetrius and Lysander's classic story - and of the impish fairy Puck, who meddles in their tangled web of love with hilarious consequences... With notes on Shakespeare and the Globe Theatre, and Love and Magic in A Midsummer Night's Dream. The tales have been retold using accessible language and with the help of Tony Ross's engaging black-and-white illustrations, each play is vividly brought to life allowing these culturally enriching stories to be shared with as wide an audience as possible.
