My Review

This was a firm favourite with our kids when they were young - the combination of brilliant rhymes for each dog, and repetition, and, of course, the interruption to all of this by Scarface Claw's terrifying screech (the pronunciation of which probably varies from home to home but was always huge fun!) as the train of dogs come across him round the corner, make for a really fun read aloud experience!

Heads Up!

This is the first of the Hairy Maclary books - but there are many more!

Publisher Review

Hairy Maclary is off for a walk in town, and on the way he's joined by many furry friends of all shapes and sizes, from Bottomley Potts (covered in spots) to Schnitzel von Krumm (with a very low tum). But when they suddenly find themselves face-to-face with Scarface Claw - the toughest Tom in town - it's time to run all the way back home! The brilliantly clever rhyme and vivid, engaging pictures have made this story into a children's classic, beloved for over 40 years - and it's still one of the most popular picture books today.
