My Review
A wonderful edition of Shakespeare's plays, adapted for children but - a rarity in a children's version - leaving Shakespeare's language intact. Somehow Chouan has managed to shorten each play so that it takes no longer than twenty minutes to perform, but retains all the main twists and turns of plot and the rich imagery and wordplay of the playwright - it's a work of genius! Illustrated by Emily Sutton, with ludicrously detailed watercolour pictures and embellishments, it feels like such a special book to hold in your hands! If you want to introduce children to not just the stories, but the language, of Shakespeare, this book is indispensable. Perfect for impromptu home theatre shows, drama clubs, and equally good for reading aloud or enjoying alone, it's a joy - worth every penny!
Heads Up!
Emily Sutton's gorgeous illustrations can be found gracing the works of some other pretty brilliant writers too - look out for 'One Christmas Wish' by Katherine Rundell and 'The World To Come' by Robert Macfarlane.
