My Review
Christian Birmingham's illustrations are so simultaneously Victorian and joyful - they make this a really wonderful version to read aloud at Christmas. The complexity of Dickens' language is maintained, but the story is shortened for younger readers. It's lovely size-wise, too; slim, but bigger than your average picturebook. A lovely hardback to have and bring out year after year!
Heads Up!
You might have to buy this secondhand - an alternative, and equally wonderful book is the new Joe Sutphin illustrated 'A Christmas Carol' - somewhat pricier though!
Publisher Review
This classic tale, retold by Jane Parker Resnick, concerns one Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserable person who finds that the ghosts of Christmases past, present and future are capable of changing his selfish ways to embrace the spirit of the festive season.
