My Review

I first came across these books because I loved Abigail Halpin's illustrations and heard that she was working on a children's book collaboration - and what a job she's made of it! If you love the 'Anne of Green Gables' books, or even if you've never read them for yourself (you are missing out!) and have just seen the TV adaptation, these stunning books will draw you right back into Anne's world. The colours are just perfection, the characterisation exquisite. Kallie George does an amazing job of condensing the story down to it's essence so that nothing is lost in Anne's character or zest for poetry, life, and kindred spirits. The books stand alone, but also will draw children on into wanting to read the original Anne stories to flesh out the characters they meet in the gorgeous illustrations. They are also notable because their layout feels like a picture books, but the story is structured into chapters, making the books an excellent stop-gap for new readers in that tricky stage between early readers and first chapter books. My daughter has collected all six of the books now and treasures them - they are classics to be enjoyed together, find comfort in on rainy days, and passed on to the next generation of Anne lovers!

Heads Up!

You will want to collect all 6 of these gorgeous books! They make beautiful gifts, and together combine to tell the story of the first 'Anne of Green Gables' novel by L.M. Montgomery.

Publisher Review

Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert need help on their farm, so they've adopted what they hope will be a sturdy, helpful boy. Instead, Matthew finds Anne awaiting him at the train station - imaginative, brash, redheaded Anne-with-an-e. With her place at the Cuthberts' at risk - particularly if nosy neighbor Mrs. Lynde has anything to say about it - Anne will have to learn patience, understanding and what it takes to make Green Gables her true home. Lovingly adapted by Kallie George with beautiful, nostalgic illustrations by Abigail Halpin, Anne Arrives is perfect for new fans of Anne and old.
