My Review

This book is great for introducing colours and clothes to kids - but, more importantly, the power of comedy and the ability of a book to make you laugh! Even very young children will enjoy Turkey's mistakes in getting his clothes put on in all the wrong ways. The genius of the book is that it relies on the knowledge even really young children have built up of how the world works, and enables them to find it funny when someone else gets things catastrophically wrong!

Heads Up!

Sandra Boynton's books also come in a box set, 'The Big Blue Box'. These books are American - so 'pants' is used to describe 'trousers' and 'shirt' is used where we would say 't-shirt'. If this bothers you, you can just swap in the English words - or avoid buying these if it will be too much of an irritation! I would understand that, but I love finding comedy for kids that is genuinely funny (one of the reasons I'm a big fan of another American phenomenon, Bert and Ernie in 'Sesame Street'!) so personally I prefer to embrace the differences in vocabulary!

Publisher Review

Three earnest animals and one misguided turkey learn about colours, clothes, and getting dressed in this Sandra Boynton classic board book. This whimsical first concept book, featuring a delightful read-aloud text that showcases animals, colours, and clothes, is sure to elicit giggles from little ones as they happily chime in on every spread with an OOPS. BLUE HAT, GREEN HAT, RED HAT, OOPS.
