My Review
'Dear Zoo' deserves a place in every child's library. It tells the story of a child who writes to the zoo to ask for a pet and receives all sorts of innapropriate animals in varying sizes of crate before finally being sent a puppy. Of course, lift-the-flap books are always a hit, but this ones perfectly combines pace of story, repetition, anticipation, and humour. Little listeners will soon know the story by heart and will enjoy joining in with the words as they lift the flaps to reveal each animal and issue the verdict on its suitability as a pet! You will find yourself reading this again and again!
Heads Up!
If you like this, try 'Noisy Farm', 'Oh Dear', or 'Look After Us', a more recent animal lift-the-flap book by Rod Campbell with a conservation theme.
