My Review
The painted illustrations of this picturebook are incredibly immersive, bold, and beautiful double page spreads that transport you straight to the rainforests of Sumatra. It's a perfect choice for a topic on rainforests or deforestation and its impact on wildlife - children won't fail to be affected by the story of this orangutan mother as she tries to get her babies to safety, and will be inspired by the difference human interventions can make for good.
Heads Up!
It is a sad story, but one tinged with hope.
Publisher Review
Life in the forest canopy changes drastically for Orangutan and her family when the tree-cutters move in and their home is destroyed. Where can they live? But for this little family - and hopefully, others - on the tropical island of Sumatra, there are human friends working for their survival and safety.
