My eldest daughter was a massive Caroline Lawrence fan when she was in years 5 and 6 at school, spending all her pocket money to collect every book in every series! I've not read her books myself (yet!), but given that they are written by a real historian of Ancient Rome, I'm pretty happy to recommend them! I also love what she says when asked why she writes what she does: "I want to know everything about the past, especially the exciting things. Also the sounds, smells, sights and tastes. I write historical novels because nobody has invented a Time Machine. And I write for kids because 11 is my inner age."

If you have kids with an interest in the Ancient world, or you want to bring to life their topic on Ancient Greece or Rome, her books are well worth investing in!
