My Review

Gorgeously colourful and full of hope, I love this picturebook about a little girl called Mira who loves to draw. When an artist comes to town and sees the paintings she has spread around her grey community, he is inspired. Together, they enthuse the whole neighbourhood and their once drab city is transformed. The book emphasises the power of following your heart and your dreams and being generous with your gifts and talents. It's a joyful celebration of creativity and community - a lovely book to read aloud.

Heads Up!

Warning - this book might inspire kids to draw on walls!!

Publisher Review

In this exuberant picture book about transformation through art, Mira lives in a gray urban community until a muralist arrives and, along with his paints and brushes, brings color, joy, and hope to the neighborhood. What good can a splash of color do in a community of gray? As Mira and her neighbors discover, more than you might ever imagine! Based on the true story of the Urban Art Trail in San Diego, California, Maybe Something Beautiful reveals how art can inspire transformation—and how even the smallest artists can accomplish something big. Pick up a paintbrush and join the celebration!
