My Review

Every parent who reads aloud has children's books that they can recite off by heart as a family well past the preschool age - and this has been one of those books for our family! Joyful and silly and fun and ridiculous - all the things that characterise Blake's books for kids - this book is a hoot! Blake's illustrations and rhymes that stretch the bounds of probability have made this book a deserved, and enduring, classic.

Heads Up!

Quentin Blake wrote many books for children - although he's perhaps better known for his illustrations of the Roald Dahl stories! Another favourite of ours by him is 'Angelica Sprocket's Pockets'. And 'Mrs Armitage on Wheels' comes a close third in line! If you like 'Mr Magnolia', get hold of these too!

Publisher Review

Mr Magnolia has only one boot. He has an old trumpet that goes rooty-toot - And two lovely sisters who play on the flute - But Mr Magnolia has only one boot. In this wittily rhyming picture book, Mr Magnolia has a full and happy life except for one serious omission - a boot. But one day, he receives a mysterious parcel, and at last Mr Magnolia can splash in the puddles with everyone else!
