My Review
I first read this book in a bookshop and walked around for the rest of my visit hugging it....it's that kind of book! I bought it and took it home to share with my daughter and we spent a very happy time lying on the bed on our fronts, together poring over the detail of the illustrations of everything from beautifully rendered bird species to the flap-covered interiors of a canal boat inhabited by water voles and a treehouse hiding a birdwatching squirrel. Our very favourite page of all shows mouse moored up in his boat, his lantern lighting up his canvas boat tent. Lift the flap and he is revealed, tucked up in bed and reading a book, a mug of cocoa in his hand, as his boat bobs on the water in the starlight. Any child who loves a wild adventure, has an interest in nature, or a fascination with tiny sylvanian worlds will absolutely fall in love with this picturebook. It is one to treasure!
Heads Up!
This is the sequel to Alice Melvin's journey through the seasons, 'Mouse's Wood'.
