My Review
This is a simple, easy read for newly independent readers, with plenty of pictures and a story that moves along at the good pace. A great introduction to the Stone Age world with a heroine children will relate to - no-one wants to have their pet cave bear given away as a gift to a visiting tribe! Nell and bear's journey as she runs away to keep him safe has its perilous moments, but all turns out well in the end, and Nell ends up safe and sound with family, in the knowledge that not only will bear be safe after all, but she herself has provided an alternative gift for the tribe. It's not a book that will blow your mind, but it's a safe bet for KS2 readers who want to delve into some fiction to enhance their history understanding!
Heads Up!
The second story in the series, 'Nell And The Cave Bear; The Journey Home' is out now too.
