My Review

A lovely, gentle book for bedtime - a polar bear cub wanders out in the arctic night, experiencing it's vastness and stillness, and watches a star shower, before finding his way home to his hibernating mother again. I love the blues of the stylised lino cut illustrations in this book, as well as the simplicity of the story.

Heads Up!

Publisher Review

The New York Times Best Illustrated picture book--now in a board edition! One keen, clear night, a polar bear cub wakes inside her warm den. Something in the moonlit stillness quietly beckons. What is it? The little cub sets out for the snow and sky and sea and ice, and the moon follows. Soothing words and luminous pictures from Stephen Savage (WHERE'S WALRUS?) and Lauren Thompson (LITTLE QUACK) make this nighttime tale as comforting as a goodnight kiss.
