My Review
Few of us are strangers to the story of Sophie and the Big Friendly Giant (BFG). Endearing and funny, the BFG is, above all, incredibly kind and enormously courageous. Magical and other worldly, yet so relevant in its exploration of bullying and the bravery it takes to deal with it, this is my favourite of Roald Dahl’s books. Sophie, too, is a wonderful character, dealing with trauma, grief, and sadness with touching honesty and open heartedness. This is just such a super story, and every child should read it at least once in their lives!
Heads Up!
The child-eating giants are scary, and treat the BFG horribly. Great bravery only comes with great peril….
Publisher Review
One dark, silvery moonlit night, Sophie is snatched from her bed by a giant!
Luckily it is the Big Friendly Giant (the BFG), who is no ordinary bone-crunching giant, but instead prefers snozzcumbers and frobscottle to children.
But there are other giants in Giant Country. And those giants have a plan to gallop far and wide to find some tasty human beans to eat.
Can Sophie and the BFG stop them?
