My Review
This is the standout novel by Katherine Rundell for me - raw and gritty in places, perhaps because it draws on some of the author's own childhood memories, it is beautiful and heartfelt; a more mature school story for girls who've grown through (but never beyond!!) Malory Towers and are ready for something with more realism but just as much beauty and kindness.
Heads Up!
The book deals with bullying and low mental health battles surrounding it....but the ending is full of kindness and hope. The book has also been published under the name 'Cartwheeling through Thunderstorms', with a particularly beautiful front cover design!
Publisher Review
Wilhelmina Silver's world is golden. Living half-wild on an African farm with her horse, her monkey and her best friend, every day is beautiful.
But when her home is sold and Will is sent away to boarding school in England, the world becomes impossibly difficult. For lions and hyenas are nothing compared to packs of schoolgirls.
Where can a girl run to in London? And will she have the courage to survive?
