My Review

'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' really needs no introduction - something about it just seems to appeal to every child! Of course, there's the magical moment when we turn the last page and discover that he has been transformed into the most beautiful and psychedelic butterfly anyone has ever seen - but in addition, there is comedy in his choice of very un-caterpillar-friendly food, there are little holes to poke small fingers through, there are days of the week to learn, numbers of fruit items to count, and foods to identify, and crazily bright colours and abstract art presented on a pleasingly stark white background that makes everything pop! It's no wonder it's such a perennial favourite with parents, teachers, and children!

Heads Up!

Erin Carle wrote and brilliantly illustrated so many books for children, it's hard to know where to go after this iconic favourite, but we really loved 'The Very Busy Spider' in our house too.

Publisher Review

Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a perennial favourite with children and adults alike. Its imaginative illustration and clever cut-out detail charts the progress of a very hungry caterpillar as he eats his way through the week.
